Enhancing Kano State's capacity for efficient planning, utilization, tracking, and accountability of public funding for Primary Health Care.

Overview

SANHDEF is providing technical support to enhance Kano State's capacity for efficient planning, utilization, tracking, and accountability of public funding and other financial resources for PHC.

This support also includes technical assistance to optimize Human Resources for Health (HRH), Planning Processes (Annual Operational Plan & Business Plan), and the Supply Chain system. This support aims to help Kano develop and operationalize a realistic PHC plan that aligns with state priorities, the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) reform, and available resources, ultimately leading to improved health outcomes.

Project Goal

To support the development and operationalization of realistic PHC plans through innovative approaches to optimize health system processes, enhance outcomes, and strengthen healthcare systems to meet the needs of the growing population.

Objectives
  • To conduct a diagnostic of the health systems in Kano, to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement

  • To support the development and operationalization of realistic PHC plans

  • To develop a comprehensive accountability and M&E framework for fund utilization

  • To optimize the development and implementation of the Annual Operational Plan (AOP)

  • To enhance quarterly business planning capacity at the PHCs and advocate for increased government allocations and releases on health

  • To optimize planning and utilization of the available HRH at the PHCs

  • To strengthen the inventory management system at the state and PHCs
